Technology

New technological advances such as facebook, google, twitter, smartphones, etc, are moving society in a positive direction. Such applications and programs make communication between one another easily accessible at the touch of a finger. Without these applications and programs society would still be using mail (which some still do) which is slower than using the internet and having your message appear in minutes, even seconds.
Although technological advances are a positive thing in that they are very easy to use and easy to manage, some advances have negative characteristics because they decrease job opportunities. New technology can do things way faster and more efficiently than a human can do decreasing the amount of jobs on the market.
Although there are positive and negative effects of technology, I believe that technology is mostly moving our society in a positive direction creating social networking and search engines that people use everyday in order to do research and stay connected with family and friends.

  1. Hello, I think that technology is a good thing in some ways. I'm not a fan of facebook or sites like myspace and stuff but i do keep connected with friends by email... and my phone of course. The internet is very helpful to me when i need to write a report or an essay a biography even. Instead of wasting time at the library (not that it isn't useful haha)i can find the information i need using the internet much faster.

  2. I totally agree in that technology is moving society in a positive direction. I liked the example in that instead of using mail just send a message via the internet is much faster. There are a lot of things that technology is much continent for, but the bad part is there are somethings that we are just getting lazy at, that we expect technology to help us with.

  3. I agree, technology helps us by making things faster to find and search for. What I don't like about technology is that it makes us lazy in a way that we are too lazy to even read a book. I believe that reading books is important because even in today's technological world we can absorb and learn through reading more than we can through watching TV or listening to the radio.
